Shared Responsibility

Nina Hohmann and Dagmar Sander
Heads of Division Commercial Activities

Who are you and what do you do?

We are Nina and Dagmar – we have a lot in common but not everything. Together, we job-share the management of commercial activities: Each of us has her own area of focus, but we share the overall responsibility. That means that I (Dagmar) mainly take care of the sustainable, economic management including overlapping projects in the commercial division. Nina’s focus is on commercial strategy, major strategic projects, and the development of new business models in the division.

«To me this airport is a fascinating employer. I am (still) in love whenever I drive in here, and I think the cohesion among my colleagues is simply wonderful and I appreciate the direct lines of communication.»

How did you get your job?

Dagmar: I completed my dual degree in business administration here at the airport before moving on to my current position through a number of posts, including Group Controlling and Aviation Division Management.

Nina: I also «grew up» at the airport. My career began with an apprenticeship as an office administrator. After that, I studied business administration and was able to gain practical experience as a working student at Munich Airport. Until I wound up in my current position, some of my jobs were with the ground handling service, the subsidiary T2 – a joint venture with Lufthansa – and as an advisor to the Executive Board.

What else could the airport do better in terms of social sustainability?

Keep at it, Munich Airport already covers a wide variety of aspects as a socially responsible employer. Alternative working models are on the rise, and we would like to see more of them, such as job sharing. But also by offering more part-time leadership. And definitely also as «real» part-time jobs, not only as shared full-time jobs – and not only or especially for women, but also for men!

What do you do in your private lives for sustainability?

Nina: We have created a flower bed and separate the garbage in order to introduce the children to the topic of sustainability in a fun way. I also spend a lot of time on eBay Classifieds to scoop up second-hand clothes for the kids.

Dagmar: I agree with Nina. My shopping companion is also Vinted, sustainable and regional food is important to us and we now have a photovoltaic system installed on the roof of our house.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Dagmar: Our motivated, highly dedicated team and the diversity of my work, which has also expanded thanks to job sharing. I love this airport and its versatility.

Nina: To me this airport is a fascinating employer. I am (still) in love whenever I drive in here, and I think the cohesion among my colleagues is simply wonderful and I appreciate the direct lines of communication. In addition, I really appreciate our job sharing and can recommend the model (with the right partner) to anyone and everyone. Not only do you have more fun at work, but you become better at your job, because you always have the biggest critic on your side.
